I’m Amy, a Behaviour Change specialist who helps you make lasting changes to your daily life that support your health and wellbeing. My coaching method is grounded in the psychology of behaviour change, combined with a therapeutic approach to challenging the beliefs that underpin our thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
Hi there
Like all humans, I want to live a life that leaves me feeling good. I wish I could say it was just that, but like many driving forces in life, my motivation to feel good comes from experiencing prolonged periods of bad.
I spent most of my early twenties falling in and out of poor mental health. Simply learning how to get back to and maintain ‘normal’ was my first challenge. Through my own lived experience, therapy, and years of research and practice, I learnt how to overcome so many of the challenges that face so many people today; crippling anxiety, panic attacks, disordered eating, agoraphobia, poor self-esteem and depression - to name a few.
When my life was no longer limited by fear, I realised I’d inadvertently begun to lay a solid foundation for thriving. I’d built a library of the components of daily life that contribute to feeling good inside and out, which evolved into a new mission: how do I help others construct a life that keeps them well, but also allows them to thrive?
The answer: behaviour science.
Why I do what I do
My career
MA Urban Design, MSc Psych, Dip Integrative Coach, PGCert in CBT.
Over the past decade I’ve come to understand that the rules for living a life that leaves us feeling good have changed. We all need a different tool kit to live a good life today.
I began my career designing places. The environment that we live in can encourage or discourage wellbeing, and in some cases limit all access. How we travel, the outdoor leisure we can engage in, the food we buy, the daily soundscapes and visual stimulation we’re exposed to, are all facets of wellbeing that are heavily influenced by our environment.
In designing environments that promote healthier living, it became clear to me that this was only half of the puzzle. Even if our environment supports our wellbeing, we can still struggle to stay well, let alone thrive. This question led me to change my career in the pursuit of building the other half of the puzzle; over the past 5 years I’ve studied the ways in which our mind determines our healthy and unhealthy behaviours.
